In Okeechobee on Lake Okeechobee the pier which is usually an easy place to fish from is high and dry over the lake bottom...In June of 2007 the state of Florida is experiencing one of the worst droughts in modern history. Lake Okeechobee is at a record low. The South Florida water management is using this opportunity to clean up the lake. After years of abuse the phosphorous laden lake bottom is being scrapped clean. The muck has been created because of the dairy farming and agricultural uses of the surrounding land. Many are to blame.
